A new retired priest John
Connell has taken over the Mission-St.
Augustine's and St, Paul's
and has been a miracle worker. He has revitalized
the area, and the mission-it
is alive, organized and fully functional.
Unfortunately, under retirement
rules his term is up soon. He has, however,
leased St. Paul's to Catholic
order that has a woman priest and they have
maintained the facilities
and grounds the last two years at no expense to
anyone-which is good news.
I understand that the place is immaculate. Have
been to Hilo several times
recently, but had no time to go out there.
As a result I have offered
to sponsor a community project and a
service at St. Paul's at
our expense. I have yet to hear back, which is
interesting in that they
may have few needs unadvised. Father John is a
worker and leader- a shame
he has to move on I would also like to put a
bronze plaque on the Church
in memory of Yee Bew Woo-has to be designed.
Sincerely,
Glenn F. Woo
